National Startup Day Mizoram

In celebration of the National Startup Day Mizoram Edition, Dr. Lalsangliani, Asst Professor of Management Department gave a presentation on “Introductory Session on Startups and its benefits” on 16th January 2023. The program was organized by Planning & Program Implementation Department (Research & Development Branch), Government of Mizoram at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl.

Department of Political Science organized “Two Days Special Lectures” delivered by Mr. Vanlalchaka Hmar, MCS (2022 batch) on the topic “Scope and Prospect of Political Science in Civil Service Exam” on 20th January 2023. The other topic “Relevance of Western Political Philosophy” was delivered by Dr. Benjamin Lalfakzuala, Asst Professor & Head, Department of Political Science, Mizoram Christian College.

Campus to Corporate an initiative by Advancing North East

Campus to Corporate” an initiative by Advancing North East organized by North East Council in association with the Departments of Management and Economics, successfully conducted a training program on ‘CV Building’, ‘Email etiquettes’ and ‘Develop Interview Skills’ at NJ Yasaswy Auditorium, IUM on 2nd February 2023.

Industrial Visit inside Aizawl Municipal Council

The different intermediate semesters - BBA II Sem, BBA IV Sem and MBA II Sem of Dept of Management went to ‘Vakiria’ at Luangmual, Aizawl for their Even Semester 2023 Industrial Visit on 10th February 2023.

Financial Literacy Conference

The students and staffs of the ICFAI University Mizoram Yuva Tourism Club participated in “Financial Literacy Conference” organized by Tourism Department, Government of Mizoram at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl on 16th February 2023.

Excavation at Ailawng Village, Mizoram

During the period between October 2022 to January 2023 practical work was done in assembling the potsherds from an excavation which was carried out on April 2022 from Ailawng. This excavation was jointly organized by History Department ICFAI, Mizo Archaeological Society and Art & Cultural Department Govt. of Mizoram. The assembled pots were now handed over to the Mizoram State Museum, Aizawl for display

‘Plogging Drive’ at Durtlang Road

The IUM Eco Club organized ‘Plogging Drive’ at Durtlang Road (Bawngkawn to Leitan) with the theme “Together Towards Garbage Free Mizoram” as part of preparation for the G-20 Meeting on 27th February, 2023. The drive was sponsored by Urban Development & Poverty, Alleviation Department, Government of Mizoram. Durtlang North Local Council also contributed `1,000 for refreshments.

Management and IT Departments Industrial Study Tour in Guwahati

The Final Year students of Management and Information Technology Departments were flagged off by the President of Mizoram Journalist Association for their Industrial Study Tour in Guwahati. The students were advised with words of encouragement for their future endeavours on 27th February 2023. They left Aizawl on the 27th February and returned on 5th March 2023.

“Musical Evening” (Live music) at the campus

IUM Music Club organized a “Musical Evening” (Live music) at the campus parking lot on 28th February 2023. Our own university bands like The Blue moon, Deep Six and 1990s performed beautifully. There were also food stalls prepared by the Evangelical Union and Music Club.

Department of Geography Field Trip at Kolasib

Department of Geography had a Field Trip at Kolasib for exploration and field study of limestone from 1st March to 3rd March 2023. After some testing, it was proved that limestone is present in some parts of the area. They also explored Serlui B to find out tourism potential which is under their syllabus ‘Regional Planning’.

HIV Self Test Drive at the NJ Yasaswy Memorial Auditorium.

IUM Red ribbon Club in collaboration with ICMR – NARI, Pune and Department of Social work, Mizoram University jointly organized HIV Self-Test Drive at the NJ Yasaswy Memorial Auditorium on 7th March 2023.

LENLAI (YOUTH) FEST 2023

The ICFAI University Mizoram was successfully organized Lenlai (Youth) Fest 2023 between 31st March & 1st April 2023. The Fest was attracted a lot of attention from different Colleges, Universities and people around Mizoram.

The following Competitions were organized during the Fest:

Different stalls including 7 Gaming stalls like Rifle & Pistol shooting, Mizo traditional sling shot, rope rappelling, Zip line, Tree house and Food stall of different items including Mizo traditional food was enjoyed by the students as well as the visitors.

The faculty, staff and students have made the event successful.

Futsal Tournament

The ICFAI University, Mizoram, conducted Futsal Tournament at Bethesda Futsal Ground, Tanhril, MZU Road in which 10 teams from different departments participated.

Excavation Study Taken by the Department of History

The students of Department of History, ICFAI University participated between 1st and 7th April, 2022 under the invitation of Art& Culture Dept. of Mizoram and in collaboration with Mizo Archaeological Society (MAS) successfully carried out an excavation at the Village Ailawng 22kms from Aizawl where, an age old traditional pot burial was unearth with parts of human bones within. The evidences found inside the pot are to be further given for DNA and various necessary tests, in order to determine the year and identity of the bones. This venture was carried out under The Mizoram Ancient Monuments and Archaeological sites and remains Act 2001. ICFAI University is thankful, for the support given by Art & Culture Dept. as well as Mizo Archaeological Society (MAS). The University would like to further extent its gratitude to the people of Ailawng village for their warm hospitality, their patience and support to bring the project into fruition.

World Health Day

Durex The Birds and Bees Talk, Plan India in association with Department of Social Work, The ICFAI University, Mizoram celebrated “World Health Day” on 7th April, 2022 at Synod Conference Centre, Aizawl interrelated with “The Birds and Bees Talk”. The special invitees who delivered a speech for the program are the Secretary of Mizoram School Education Department, the reigning crown of Miss Mizoram, Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University, Mizo Students Union (MSU) and Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP). And students from four schools of Aizawl District attended the program. The theme of World Health DAY 2022 is “Our Planet, Our Health” on regarding to this ICFAI University organized the program interrelated with TBBT.

Farewell Program for Final Year Students 2022

The Farewell Program was organised for the final year students on 22nd April, 2022 at IUM Auditorium. Hon’ble Minister, Mr Robert Romawia Royte, Sports and Youth Services, Govt. of Mizoram was Chief Guest in this function and accompanied by Mr Joseph H. Lalramsanga, Director, Sports and Youth Services Department, Govt. of Mizoram. Futsal prize was distributed by the Chief Guest and he also distributed memento to the students. The Chief Guest had a good and informative speech in this function.

ICFAI University Mizoram Virtual Fest 2022

The IUM Virtual Fest ‘Lenlai’ was organized during April 18 – 22, 2022. The Fest had a good response from students from higher secondary schools and colleges in Aizawl and outside Aizawl, and even from outside Mizoram. It is believed that the Fest will garner a considerable amount of students’ enrolment in the coming admission season. Competitions on 10 different areas were organized. The ICFAI University Mizoram Virtual Fest 2022 concluded on 22nd April, 2022 at IUM Auditorium.

Untapped Eco-Tourism Potential

The Department of Planning & Program Implementation, Government of Mizoram and the Tourism Department, Government of Mizoram in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the North Eastern Council, Government of India organized a round table discussion on “Untapped Eco-Tourism Potential” at RB McCabe Hall, Aijal Club on 2nd May, 2022 as a part of the North East Festival under the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). Mr Robert Romawia Royte, Tourism Minister graced the event as Chief Guest. The Chief Secretary of Mizoram, Dr Renu Sharma, spoke on the efforts taken by the State Tourism Department in developing and implementing various tourism activities to make Mizoram an Eco-tourism destination, while keeping in mind sustainability and conservation of environment. The Director of Tourism, V. Lalengmawia in his power point presentation, highlighted the detailed scenario of tourism in Mizoram, its challenges and opportunities. AKAM NEC Nodal Officer for Mizoram Pi R Lalrodingi also gave a short speech on how initiatives had been taken by the Union Government, through the Ministry of DoNER and the North Eastern Council towards the development and prosperity of the north eastern hill state. Steve Borgia, Chairman & Managing Director, INDeco Leisure Hotels also addressed the gathering through virtual mode. Experts on the field of eco-tourism such as Ms. Aditi Raval, an award winning media personality, Pi Zonunthari, Deputy Secretary Tourism, Mizoram, Mr Himangshu Baruah, CEO, Finder bridge Tourism, Guwahati, Pi Dolly Lalmuanpuii, Asst Secretary, Mizoram Hotel Owners Association (MHOA), Pu Zoliana Chhakchhuak, President, Association of Tour Operators Mizoram (ATOM) and Pu Lalhruaitluanga, President, Travel Agent Association of Mizoram (TAAM) were among the panelists.

Industry Interface

(i) Industry interface was organised in IUM Auditorium on 13 April 2022, for Final year students and the resource persons were from Add on Consultancy. Students were enlightened with different job opportunities. 60 Student participated in the event. (II) Industry interface was organised in IUM Auditorium on 17 May 2022 for Final year students. Resource persons from Chill breeze, Aizawl branch came and had a presentation for the students. 53 Students participated in the event.

Orientation program

The University has organized Orientation program for the intermediate and newly admitted students on 12th August 2022. Students are mobilized and oriented on their courses, fee payment, library access, etc.

Archives Orientation & Interactive Session

The Dept. of History, ICFAI University, Mizoram in collaboration with Mizoram State Archives organised ‘Archives Orientation & Interactive Session’ on the 23rd of August, 2022 at Mizoram State Archives Hall, Babutlang. University appreciate the Mizoram State Archives for hosting us and collaborating with us in this program and we hope that this is the beginning of many more partnerships in the future.

NSS Reports

a) Orientation Training Program
Orientation Training Program of the National Service Scheme was held at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship campus, Guwahati between 4th August 2022 – 10th August 2022. Ms. Zairemmawii, Asst Professor, and Program Officer NSS, was participated in the program. 12 nos of Program Officers from different colleges and universities from Mizoram were participated in the program. b) Green Mizoram Day.
University observed NSS Green Mizoram Day on 9th June 2022 at the Campus and 50 saplings are planted at the Campus. The main objectives of the program were to create in depth awareness among the students and staffs as well as to educate them on how we could move further in making a green Mizoram.

Fresher’s Social Program 2022

The Freshers Social Program was organised for the newly admitted students on 9th September, 2022 at Vanapa Hall. Hon’ble Minister, Mr Romawia, Speaker, Govt. of Mizoram was Chief Guest in this function. The Chief Guest had a good and informative speech in this function. The program was accompanied by folkdance, solo and speech from the students.

Mizo Folklore Day

The Mizo Folkfore Day was observed on 9th August 2022 at the Auditorium of Icfai University Mizoram in collaboration with Mizoram Folklore Society. Imminent speakers from different colleges has a paper presentation on the topic of folklore and society. Ancient musical items are also shown during the program.

4th Faculty Induction Program (FIP) 2022

The 4th Faculty Induction Program (FIP) held by UGCHRDC, Mizoram University was a program held on June 2022 and attended by several faculty of ICFAI Mizoram. The Faculty Induction Program is a month-long intensive course where professors of various fields share their expertise on varied topics. Each day, multiple experts from around the globe gave lectures on selected topics and these lectures ended with an interactive question and answer session in which participants voice their opinions and ask questions if they had any. During the course of this, the candidates were required to complete four tasks

• To present a paper on selected topics.
• To conduct a survey on how production and sales of agricultural products are affected by the pandemic.
• To present the findings of the said survey.
• To appear in the final online exam.

Seven faculty members from Icfai University, Mizoram had attended the program, completed the course with an average of A grade.

The University has organized seminar cum workshop on “Vipassana for stress Management and mastering our minds’ on 17th October 2022. The resource person was Ms Bela Varsani, Senior Vipassana Teacher form Rajkot, Gujarat.

One Day Training of Adventure Club

The Adventure club in collaboration with Mizoram State disaster management organised ‘Oneday training on rappelling, jumaring and rope access’ on 15th of October, 2022 at Icfai University Campus.

Anthurium festival 2022

The Dept of Hospitality & Tourism attended Anthurium festival at Reiek on 14th October 2022. The students have enjoyed first hand experience of adventure tourism, food & beverages, event management etc which are all part of their curriculum.

Fresher’s Social Program 2022

The Fresher’s Social Program was organised for the newly admitted students on 9th September, 2022 at Vanapa Hall. Mr LalrinlianaSailo, Mayor, Aizawl Municipal Council was the Chief Guest in this function. The Chief Guest while referring to his association with the university from the day of its establishment highlighted the contributions of the university to the state. The program was accompanied by folkdance, solo and speech from the students.

A signature campaign by the ICFAI University Mizoram White Ribbon Club on the theme ‘Make Mental Health and well being for all a global priority’ held on 12th October, 2022 at ICFAI University Campus.

Inter College Quiz competition

a) Inter College Quiz was organized by Directorate of Tourism, Govt of Mizoram at Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang on 22nd September 2022. Two students from BBA (H&T) was participated in the program.
b) UPSC Challenge inter college quiz competition 2022 was organized by the Mizo Student Union at Ignite Studio, Khatla on 25th August 2022. One student each from MA. (Pol.Sc) 3rd Semester and MA. (Geog) 3rd Semester participated in the said program.

53rd NSS Foundation Day

NSS Foundation Day was celebrated at Vanapa Hall on 23rd September 2022. Registrar, Ms. Zairemmawii Ralte (Program Officer), Mr. Lalruattluanga (Program Officer) and NSS voluntary members from the university attended the program.

One Week Rural Camp 2022

MSW 3rd Semester students conducted ‘One Week Rural Camp’ at Sailam Village during 26th September 2022 to 1st October 2022. Different programs in collaboration with various governments and non-governmental organizations were organized based on the needs of the community

Road and Safety Awareness program

Motor Vehicle Act and Road safety awareness program was organized by the university in collaboration with the Transport Department on 22nd September at the Icfai University Campus. The Director, Jt. Director from the Transport Department, Govt of Mizoram and Sub – Inspector from MVI was invited for the program.

Workshop on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) & Research Methodology was organized by the Social Work Department on 22nd & 23rd September 2022 at Auditorium, Icfai University Mizoram. Dr. C. Lalengzama, Asst Professor, Mizoram University was a resource person in the program.

Blood Donation Camp

Blood Donation Camp was organized at Auditorium, ICFAI University Mizoram in collaboration with the Civil Hospital, Aizawl Blood Bank on 21st September 2022. 70 unit of blood was donated by the students.

Cleanliness Drive

The Icfai University Mizoram was observing the ‘Cleanliness Drive’ by cleaning the university campus in celebration of the 53rd NSS Foundation Day at the university campus on 16th September 2022.

A program, ‘Meet the Author’ was organized at Auditorium, Icfai University Mizoram by the department of History and Political Science on 6th October 2022, Mr. K. Remruatfela, Advocate and author of ‘Indian Union chhung a zofaterinluhkannihdan’ was invited as a resource person.

One Day Sensitization of College Principals and Technical Institution was organized by MSACS and Higher & Technical Education, Govt. of Mizoram on 19th October, 2022 at Aijal Club Conference Hall.

Yuva Tourism Club training at Vanapa Hall

Volunteers from Yuva Tourism Club attended training at Vanapa Hall for International Tourism Mart 2022 which was held from 16th to 19th November 2022 at Assam Rifles Ground.

Reliance Foundation Youth sports 2022

On 31st October to 5th November 2022 The University football team participated in the football tournament under the boys category organized by Reliance Foundation Youth sports 2022. The University Sports Club in-charge, Dr. Juliet F Lalzarzoliani coordinated and led the team participation. 16 Students were selected for the team; the Club appointed Dr PC Lalrohlua and Mr. Lalruattluanga as the Head and Asst Coaches respectively. Lalrindika of MA (Pol.Sc) III Semester was appointed as the Team Captain.

On 1st November 2022 Department of Social Work organized a Special Talk on Project Formulation and Establishment of NGO: Scope and Prospects. Here the resource persons are:

Ms. K Vanlalthangzuali: Director, Co-founder of One Step ‘Elder Day Care Centre’ at Lunglei. She is also the Field Officer of National Help-line for Senior Citizens of Mizoram.

Meeting with Chairman of Mizoram Youth Commission

The Registrar and the Academic Coordinator had a meeting with Dr. Vanlaltanpuia, MLA, and Chairman of Mizoram Youth Commission at his office on 7th November 2022. Discussion was made about the possibility of working together in the near future.

University Red Ribbon Club organized ‘Winter Fest on HIV/AIDS on 10th November 2022. Presentations were given by:

The Department of Education celebrated ‘National Education Day’ commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad at University auditorium on 11th November 2022. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. R P Vadhera delivered a speech and distributed prizes for Slogan writing and Poster Design Competitions. The winners are:

ICFAI University Mizoram 10th Convocation

The 10th Convocation of the ICFAI University, Mizoram 2022 was successfully organized by the University on November 18, 2022 at NJY Memorial Auditorium, ICFAI University, Mizoram campus. His Excellency, the Governor of State of Mizoram, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the function as a Chief Guest. Prof. Y R Haragopal Reddy, the Chancellor presented medals and degrees to the students.

10th International Tourism Mart

The ICFAI University, Mizoram students invited to volunteer for the stall duty and appointed as Liaison Officers and General Assistants at the 10th International Tourism Mart on 18th November 2022 at Assam Rifle Ground and R Dengthuama Hall.

One-Week National Level Workshop on Research Methodology

A One-Week National Level Workshop on Research Methodology was organized at university auditorium during 21st November to 25th November 2022. Resource persons from Mizoram University, NIT, T Romana College and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Assam gave presentations on their respective topics. The workshop was attended by our students, faculty members and other interested persons from outside.

Conduct of Odd semester and declaration of result for 2022

The Odd semester Exam for 2022 was conducted successfully from 1st December 2022 till 16th December 2022. The Examination result was declared on the 2nd February 2023.

Visit to Orphanage Home

• The teaching and non-teaching staff members visited Bethany Children’s Home and presented them with Christmas gifts such as toys and basic needs on 21st December 2022. The Home is an orphanage run by the United Pentecostal church of Mizoram.
• Teaching and non-teaching staff members visited Vanpalai Team Home which is also an orphanage home. They were also presented with some basic needs as Christmas gifts on 22nd December 2022.
