Student Events
Awareness program on Stress and Anxiety
The White Ribbon Club of the University organized an awareness program on 12th January, 2023, titled "Stress and Anxiety: Emerging Issues among Youth". This informative session led by Ms. Dingliani Sailo, Psychological Counsellor and Clinical Hypnotherapist was aimed at providing insights into common mental health challenges faced by young people today and equipping them with practical tools and techniques to manage stress and anxiety effectively.
National Startup Day Mizoram Edition
In celebration of National Startup Day, the Planning & Program Implementation Department (Research & Development Branch) of the Government of Mizoram organized an event at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl, on 16th January, 2023. Dr. Lalsangliani, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Management Studies at IU Mizoram gave a presentation on “Introductory Session on Startups and its benefits”
Two Day Special Lectures for Political Science Students
The Department of Political Science at IU Mizoram hosted a thought-provoking "Two Days Special Lectures" series on 20th January, 2023.
This event featured two distinguished speakers addressing students with the aim to equip students with valuable insights for academic and professional pursuits.
Mr. Vanlalchaka Hmar, MCS (2022 batch) delivered a lecture on the "Scope and Prospect of Political Science in Civil Service Exam," sharing his experience and expertise, to guide students on leveraging their political science background to succeed in the Civil Service Examination.
Dr. Benjamin Lalfakzuala, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Political Science, Mizoram Christian College delivered a lecture on the "Relevance of Western Political Philosophy", exploring the enduring influence of Western philosophical thought on contemporary political theory and systems.
Workshop on Research Methodology and Participatory Rural Appraisal
The Department of Social Work at IU Mizoram organized a two day workshop led by Dr. C. Lalengzama, Assistant Professor on “Research Methodology and Participatory Rural Appraisal” on 31st January 2023.
Awareness Program on Drug Abuse Prevention
The Mizoram Social Defence & Rehabilitation Board, under the Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Dept (SLCA NE – III), hosted a critical one-day awareness program on "Drug Abuse Prevention" on 31st January, 2023. This program aimed to educate and empower the community to combat the challenges of drug abuse.

Campus to Corporate an initiative by Advancing North East
The Departments of Management and Economics at ICFAI University Mizoram (IUM) in collaboration with the North East Council (NEC), successfully organized a valuable training program titled "Campus to Corporate" on 2nd February, 2023.
This initiative, driven by Advancing North East, aimed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the professional landscape. The program, held at the NJ Yasaswy Auditorium, featured interactive sessions on - CV Building, Email Etiquette and Interview Skills. The sessions were supervised by industry experts, Ms. Nishi Agarwal and Ms. Chandni Shivam.
Industrial Visit to Aizawl Municipal Council
On 10th February, 2023, students from the Department of Management at ICFAI University Mizoram went on an industrial visit to Vakiria in Luangmual, Aizawl. This valuable experience provided students from various semesters, including BBA II, BBA IV, and MBA II, with a firsthand view of industry operations.
Financial Literacy Conference
The students and staff of ICFAI University Mizoram Yuva Tourism Club participated in the "Financial Literacy Conference" organized by the Tourism Department of the Mizoram Government on 16th February, 2023, at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl. This event provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop financial management skills relevant to the tourism industry.
Excavation at Ailawng Village, Mizoram
A successful collaboration between the History Department of ICFAI University Mizoram, the Mizo Archaeological Society, and the Art & Cultural Department of the Government of Mizoram has culminated in a valuable addition to the Mizoram State Museum's collection.
Following an excavation conducted in April 2022 at Ailawng, a meticulous process of assembling potsherds took place between October 2022 and January 2023. This painstaking effort has resulted in the restoration of important archaeological artifacts.The assembled pots were officially handed over to the Mizoram State Museum in Aizawl. These artifacts will undoubtedly enhance the museum's collection and provide valuable insights into Mizoram's history and cultural heritage for researchers and visitors alike.
Lecture Series
The Department of History at IU Mizoram launched its new monthly lecture series. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Vanlalpari, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Mizoram Christian College on 17th February, 2023.
Awareness Workshop on Cyber Crime and Security in collaboration with NIELIT
The Department of Information Technology at ICFAI University Mizoram in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), hosted a crucial workshop on "Cyber Crime and Security" on 22nd February, 2023. This program, sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India was held at the NJ Yasaswy Memorial Auditorium.
The workshop welcomed students from across various programs, including BCA, BBA, BBA (Hospitality & Tourism), B.Com, and M.Com.
133rd Aizawl Day Conclave
The Department of History at ICFAI University Mizoram actively participated in the 133rd Aizawl Day Conclave, held on 23rd February, 2023. Organized by the Aizawl Municipal Corporation at the Aijal Club, this event served as a platform to celebrate the rich history and heritage of Aizawl city.
Lecture Series on Contemporary Literature.
The Department of English at IU Mizoram organized a stimulating one-day lecture series on "Contemporary Literature" on 24th February, 2023. The event featured presentations by a distinguished panel of experts - Dr. C Lalawmpuia Vanchiau, Dr. C Lalrinzuala and Lalsangliani Ralte.
‘Plogging Drive’ at Durtlang Road
The University’ Eco Club organized a ‘Plogging Drive’ at Durtlang Road (Bawngkawn to Leitan) on 27th February, 2023 with the theme “Together Towards Garbage Free Mizoram” as part of the preparations for the G-20 meeting in the state. Participants actively combined jogging with picking up litter, promoting both exercise and environmental cleanliness.
The drive was sponsored by the Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department, Government of Mizoram. Durtlang North Local Council also contributed towards arranging refreshments for the participants during the drive
Industrial Study Tour to Guwahati
Final Year students of the Management and Information Technology Departments of the university were flagged off for their Industrial Study Tour to Guwahati by the President of the Mizoram Journalist Association. On 27th February, 2023, the students were sent off with words of encouragement for their future endeavors. They returned on 5th March 2023.
Musical Evening on Campus
IU Mizoram’s Music Club rocked the campus parking lot with a live Musical Evening on 28th February, 2023. University bands like The Blue moon, Deep Six and 1990s performed beautifully, while the Evangelical Union and Music Club put together stalls to cater delicious food for the fun evening.
Exploratory Field Trip to Kolasib
In fulfillment of their curriculum's focus on regional planning, the Department of Geography embarked on a field trip to Kolasib from March 1st to 3rd, 2023. This expedition served a dual purpose: exploration for the presence of limestone in designated areas and an assessment of Serlui B's tourism potential. This hands-on approach solidified their understanding of theoretical concepts.
HIV Self-Test Drive
In an initiative promoting public health awareness, the university’ Red Ribbon Club joined forces with ICMR-NARI, Pune and the Department of Social Work, ICFAI University Mizoram to organize an HIV Self-Test Drive at the NJ Yasaswy Memorial Auditorium on 7th March, 2023.
Lenlai Youth Fest 2023
The much-anticipated Lenlai Youth Fest 2023 was held at ICFAI University Mizoram between 31st March and 1st April 2023. The fest attracted widespread participation from colleges, universities, and the wider Mizoram community.
Exciting competitions across - band music, cultural dance, article writing (Mizo & English), poetry writing, photography, Mizo traditional games (Insuknawr, Kalchhetkal & Lungden) and painting, drew enthusiastic participation. While the gaming stalls offered unique experiences like rifle & pistol shooting, traditional Mizo slingshot challenges, rope rappelling, zip lines, tree houses, and more. Food stalls served a variety of delicacies including traditional Mizo fare, to the delight of students and visitors alike.
The tireless efforts of faculty, staff, and students of the university made the Lenlai Youth Fest 2023 a resounding success.
Workshop by Government of Mizoram on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals
The Planning and Programme Implementation Department of the Government of Mizoram organized a workshop on localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on April 25th, 2022. Miss Aileen Malsawmdawngi, HOD, Department of Commerce, along with students from M.Com, 2nd Semester, participated in the event.
Futsal Tournament 2022
ICFAI University Mizoram hosted a high-energy Futsal Tournament on April 19th and 20th, 2022, at the Bethesda Futsal Ground on Tanhril MZU Road. 10 teams, representing various departments across the university, battled it out for futsal glory.
Excavation Study with Mizo Archaeological Society
History students from ICFAI University Mizoram undertook an excavation study at an ancient pot burial site in the Ailawng village, located 22 kilometers from Aizawl. The excavation, conducted between April 1st and 7th, 2022, was undertaken in partnership with the Mizoram Art & Culture Department and the Mizo Archaeological Society (MAS) under the provisions of The Mizoram Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act 2001.
The unearthed burial pot contained fragments of human bone. These fragments will undergo DNA testing and other analyses to determine the age and identity of the remains. This exciting discovery sheds light on Mizoram's past inhabitants and their burial practices.
World Health Day 2022
ICFAI University Mizoram’s Department of Social Work in association with Durex The Birds and Bees Talk Project by Plan India celebrated World Health Day on 7th April, 2022 at the Synod Conference Centre, Aizawl. The theme, "Our Planet, Our Health," was cleverly intertwined with The Birds and the Bees Talk Project sparking important conversations about sexual and reproductive health.
The event featured esteemed guests, including the Secretary of Mizoram School Education Department and the reigning Miss Mizoram. Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University, representatives from the Mizo Students Union (MSU) and Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), and students from four Aizawl district schools all participated.
Farewell for Graduating Class of 2022
ICFAI University Mizoram bid a warm farewell to its graduating students on 22nd April, 2022, at a ceremony held in the IUM Auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Minister Mr. Robert Romawia Royte, Minister of Sports and Youth Services for the Government of Mizoram. He was accompanied by Mr. Joseph H. Lalramsanga, Director of the Sports and Youth Services Department.
The ceremony not only served as a momentous occasion to mark their journey's end at the university but also celebrated the achievements of the final year students, with the Chief Guest distributing the Futsal tournament prizes and mementos to the graduating students.
Lenlai Youth Fest 2022
ICFAI University Mizoram’s Lenlai Youth Fest 2022 was organized virtually during April 18th – 22nd, 2022. It concluded on 22nd April, 2022 at the university auditorium. The Fest saw participation from students of higher secondary schools and colleges in and around Mizoram in competitions across categories.
Untapped Ecotourism Potential Round Table
Government of Mizoram’s Department of Planning & Program Implementation and Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the North Eastern Council, Government of India organized a round table discussion on “Untapped Ecotourism Potential” at RB McCabe Hall, Aijal Club on 2nd May, 2022 as a part of the North East Festival under the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM).
Mr Robert Romawia Royte, Tourism Minister graced the event as Chief Guest. The Chief Secretary of Mizoram, Dr Renu Sharma, spoke on the efforts taken by the State Tourism Department in developing and implementing various tourism activities to make Mizoram an eco-tourism destination, while keeping in mind sustainability and conservation of environment.
The Director of Tourism,V. Lalengmawia in his power point presentation, highlighted the detailed scenario of tourism in Mizoram, its challenges and opportunities. AKAM NEC Nodal Officer for Mizoram Pi R Lalrodingi also gave a short speech on how initiatives had been taken by the Union Government, through the Ministry of DoNER and the North Eastern Council towards the development and prosperity of the north eastern hill state. Steve Borgia, Chairman & Managing Director, INDeco Leisure Hotels also addressed the gathering virtually.
Experts on the field of eco-tourism such as Ms. Aditi Raval, an award winning media personality, Pi Zonunthari, Deputy Secretary Tourism, Mizoram, Mr Himangshu Baruah, CEO, Finder bridge Tourism, Guwahati, Pi Dolly Lalmuanpuii, Asst Secretary, Mizoram Hotel Owners Association (MHOA), Pu Zoliana Chhakchhuak, President, Association of Tour Operators Mizoram (ATOM) and Pu Lalhruaitluanga, President, Travel Agent Association of Mizoram (TAAM) were among the panelists.
Industry - Academia Interface Events
At an Industry Academia Interface Event held on 13th April, 2022, at the IUM Auditorium for final-year students, industry experts from Add on Consultancy provided insights into the job market, while presenting on in-demand career paths.

Archives Orientation & Interactive Session in collaboration with Mizoram State Archives
ICFAI University, Mizoram’s Department of History, collaborated with the Mizoram State Archives to organize a session on ‘Archives Orientation & Interactive Session’ on the 23rd August, 2022 at Mizoram State Archives Hall, Babutlang.
NSS Orientation Training Program
The Orientation Training Program of the National Service Scheme was held at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship campus, Guwahati between 4th August 2022 - 10th August 2022. Ms. Zairemmawii, Assistant Professor, IU Mizoram and Program Officer NSS, participated in the program. Twelve Program Officers from different colleges and universities in Mizoram participated in the program.
Green Mizoram Day 2022
On 9th June, 2022, ICFAI University observed NSS Green Mizoram Day at the Campus. This initiative involved planting 50 saplings on campus, fostering a greener environment for the university community. The main objective of this event was to cultivate a deeper understanding of environmental responsibility among students and staff. Through this program, participants gained valuable knowledge on how to contribute to a more sustainable Mizoram.
Fresher’s Social Program 2022
The Fresher’s Social Program was organized for the newly admitted students on 9th September, 2022 at Vanapa Hall. Mr Lalrinenga Sailo, Mayor, Aizawl Municipal Council was the Chief Guest in this function. The Chief Guest while referring to his association with the university from the day of its establishment highlighted the contributions of the university to the state. The program was accompanied by folkdance, solo and speech from the students.
Mizo Folklore Day
ICFAI University Mizoram, in collaboration with the Mizoram Folklore Society, commemorated Mizo Folklore Day on 9th August, 2022, at the University Auditorium.
The event served as a platform to delve into the rich cultural heritage of Mizoram. Eminent speakers from various colleges presented insightful papers exploring the fascinating relationship between folklore and Mizo society. A showcase of ancient musical instruments further enriched the experience, providing a glimpse into the sounds and melodies that have resonated through Mizo history.
Faculty Induction Program by UGC HRDC
Faculty members from ICFAI University, Mizoram, participated in the 4th Faculty Induction Program (FIP) by UGC HRDC, Mizoram University held in June 2022.
This month-long intensive program where professors of diverse fields shared their expertise on varied topics, offered a valuable professional opportunity for IU Mizoram faculty members. Each day featured engaging lectures by global experts on a range of carefully selected topics. Interactive Q&A sessions followed each lecture, encouraging participants to voice their opinions and delve deeper into the presented materials.

The University organized a seminar and workshop on “on "Vipassana for Stress Management and Mastering Our Minds" on 17th October, 2022. This insightful session was led by Ms. Bela Varsani, a Senior Vipassana Teacher from Rajkot, Gujarat.
Adventure Club Training in collaboration with Mizoram State Disaster Management
The Adventure club in collaboration with Mizoram State Disaster Management organized a one day training on rappelling, jumaring and rope access on 15th October, 2022 at ICFAI University, Mizoram Campus.
Anthurium Festival 2022
The Department of Hospitality & Tourism at ICFAI University Mizoram attended the Anthurium Festival at Reiek on 14th October, 2022. This immersive experience offered students a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand the operations and management of adventure tourism, food & beverages, event management etc, enriching their understanding of their curriculum.
Signature Campaign
The university’s White Ribbon Club organized a signature campaign on the ICFAI University campus on 12th October, 2022 to raise mental health awareness. The theme, "Make Mental Health and Well-being for All a Global Priority," resonated with students as they pledged their support for mental health advocacy.
Inter College Quiz Competitions
The Directorate of Tourism, Government of Mizoram, organized an Inter College Tourism Quiz at Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang on 22nd September, 2022. Two BBA (Hospitality & Tourism) students from IU Mizoram participated in the program.
The Mizo Student Union organized a UPSC Challenge Inter College Quiz Competition at Ignite Studio, Khatla on 25th August, 2022. One student from MA (Political Science) 3rd Semester and one from MA (Geography) 3rd Semester, participated in the program.

3rd Semester students of MA Social Work organized a week-long Rural Camp in Sailam Village from September 26th to October 1st, 2022, to address community needs. Different programs were organized in collaboration with various government and non-governmental organizations.
Road Safety Awareness Program with Transport Department
IU Mizoram collaborated with the Transport Department to organize a Motor Vehicle Act and Road Safety Awareness Program on 22nd September, 2022, at the University Campus. Guests included the Director and Joint Director from the Transport Department, Government of Mizoram, and Sub-Inspector, MVI.
Zoramtiti by Vanglaini Newspaper
Vanglaini Newspaper organized a talk on the theme of ‘Sawrkar Sum leh Mipui Sum’ for students on 1st October, 2022. The event took place at Music Home, a cultural venue in Zonuam. Two students from MA (Economics) 3rd Semester represented IU Mizoram at the event.
Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) & Research Methodology Workshop
ICFAI University Mizoram's Social Work Department hosted a workshop on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) & Research Methodology on September 22nd and 23rd, 2022, at the university's Auditorium. The workshop was led by Dr. C. Lalengzama, Assistant Professor at Mizoram University.
Blood Donation Camp
IU Mizoram held a successful Blood Donation Camp on 21st September, 2022, in collaboration with the Aizawl Civil Hospital Blood Bank. During the camp, 70 units of blood were generously donated by students.

ICFAI University Mizoram celebrated the 53rd NSS Foundation Day with a cleanliness drive on 16th September, 2022. Students and staff actively participated in cleaning the university campus.

Department of Higher and Technical Education Sensitization Program by MSACS
The Government of Mizoram's Department of Higher and Technical Education (HTE) under the Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) held a one day Sensitization Program for College and Technical Institution Principals on 19th October, 2022, at the Aijal Club Conference Hall.
Reliance Foundation Youth sports 2022:
ICFAI University Mizoram’s football team participated in the football tournament held from 31st October to 5th November, 2022, by Reliance Foundation Youth sports 2022.
The 16-member team was selected under the coordination of Dr. Juliet F Lalzarzoliani, University Sports Club In-charge. Dr. PC Lalrohlua and Mr. Lalruattluanga served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach, respectively, with Lalrindika of MA (Political Science) 3rd Semester, leading the team as Captain.

On 1st November, 2022, the Department of Social Work at ICFAI University Mizoram hosted a talk on "Project Formulation and Establishment of NGOs: Scope and Prospects"
The event featured Ms. K Vanlalthangzuali, Director and Co-founder of One Step 'Elder Day Care Centre' at Lunglei and Field Officer of the National Helpline for Senior Citizens of Mizoram, and Mr. Lalhmangaihzuala, Data Operator and Core Member at the One Step ‘Elder Day Care Centre’, Lunglei.
e-Waste Management Awareness Program
IU Mizoram partnered with Karo Sambhav, a leading e-waste management organization, to host an Awareness Program on "E-Waste Management" on 2nd November, 2022, at the university auditorium.
WinterFest 2022 for Awareness on HIV/AIDS
The university’s Red Ribbon Club hosted Winter Fest on 10th November, 2022, a fun and informative event to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS.

National Education Day
The Department of Education celebrated ‘National Education Day’ commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad at University auditorium on 11th November 2022. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. R P Vadhera delivered a speech and distributed prizes for Slogan writing and Poster Design Competitions held on 2nd November, 2022, in the lead-up to National Education Day.

ICFAI University Mizoram 10th Convocation
ICFAI University Mizoram marked a momentous milestone in its journey with its 10th Convocation held on 18th November, 2022, at the NJY Memorial Auditorium on campus.
His Excellency, the Governor of State of Mizoram, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the function as a Chief Guest. Prof. Y R Haragopal Reddy, the Chancellor of the University, presided over the ceremony and presented medals and degrees to the students.
10th International Tourism Mart
IU Mizoram students played a vital role in the 10th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the NorthEast Region held from 17th to 19th November, 2022, at the Assam Rifle Ground and R Dengthuama Hall in Aizawl.
In preparation for the event, volunteers from the university’s Yuva Tourism Club were trained at Vanapa Hall and were invited to volunteer for stall duty, serve as liaison officers and general assistants at ITM.
National Workshop on Research Methodology
ICFAI University Mizoram hosted a week-long National level workshop on Research Methodology from 21st to 25th November, 2022. Experts from institutions across India including Mizoram University, NIT, T Romana College and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Assam, delivered presentations on a diverse range of topics within the field of research methodology. The workshop was attended by ICFAI students, faculty and external participants.
Visits to Orphanage Homes
In the spirit of giving, ICFAI University Mizoram's teaching and non-teaching staff members embarked on heartwarming visits to two local orphanages in December 2022.
Bethany Children's Home (United Pentecostal Church of Mizoram)
On 21st December, 2022, non-teaching staff members visited Bethany Children's Home, bringing Christmas joy to the children. They presented gifts of toys and basic necessities, wishing a brighter holiday season for the residents.
Vanpalai Team Home
On the following day, faculty and non-teaching staff members brought Christmas cheer to Vanpalai Team Home, another orphanage in the area. They presented the children with some basic necessities as Christmas gifts.
Student Clubs
The university encourages our students to channel their passions into purpose by forming or joining student-led activity clubs. The university also has its own student-led clubs, which range from entrepreneurship to art, adventure and excursions clubs who organize outings in and around Mizoram, dance, photography and literature clubs that provide an opportunity for students with shared interests across the university to come together.
These clubs not just provide the students with a platform to showcase and develop their talents but also foster a sense of community and an atmosphere of learning beyond textbooks on campus.

Inter College Quiz Competitions
- The Directorate of Tourism, Government of Mizoram, organized an Inter College Tourism Quiz at Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang on 22nd September, 2022. Two BBA (Hospitality & Tourism) students from IU Mizoram participated in the program.
- The Mizo Student Union organized a UPSC Challenge Inter College Quiz Competition at Ignite Studio, Khatla on 25th August, 2022. One student from MA (Political Science) 3rd Semester and one from MA (Geography) 3rd Semester, participated in the program.
Sporting Events
ICFAI University Mizoram’s football team participated in the football tournament held from 31st October to 5th November, 2022, by Reliance Foundation Youth sports 2022. The 16-member team was selected under the coordination of Dr. Juliet F Lalzarzoliani, University Sports Club In-charge. Dr. PC Lalrohlua and Mr. Lalruattluanga served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach, respectively, with Lalrindika of MA (Political Science) 3rd Semester, leading the team as Captain.
